The Heart of Nanda Parbat is a mystic totem known to grant immortality that may or may not be connected to the goddess, Rama Kushna. It is kept in its namesake, Nanda Parbat, where the life force of its resident monks are tied to it. In a mad plot to turn the human race into gorillas, Grodd targeted the Heart of Nanda Parbat as an exotic power source for his de-evolution ray. A Legion of Doom unit composed of Lex Luthor, Tala, Rampage, Bizarro, and Devil Ray stormed the city and stole the Heart. The monks all collapsed. After regrouping at the Citadel of Doom, Grodd led a larger unit of Legionnaires to Gorilla City and installed the Heart, Mind Control Module, and a Genetic Reconfiguration Matrix to the force field generator. Every human was instantly de-evolved. Superman stormed the complex and destroyed the generator, along with the Heart. The monks of Nanda Parbat then revived.
