Gotham Space Labs, Goth Space informally, is an aerospace firm based in Gotham City that develops various technologies. One invention, a radio disrupter, was stolen by the Joker in 1997. He came up with a plan to use the Disrupter to scramble all radio signals in the Gotham greater area from atop the Gotham Empire State Building, the highest point in the city needed for maximum air coverage. No military nor commercial airplanes could safely fly over Gotham with the device activated. Over the local news, the Joker issued a ransom of $40 million. Batman and Batgirl intervened and were later joined by Robin. When Batgirl sighted a plane approaching, she tricked the Joker into shooting the Disrupter. It overloaded and exploded. A Gotham Air police blimp arrived, took Joker into custody, and confiscated the remains of the Disrupter.
