The Galvanic Lifter Machine (GLM) was designed to aid construction workers with heavy duty and dangerous activity, such as lifting beams. Standing at a height of two tons and weighing 13 tons, it is nicknamed "Golem." The Golem is wirelessly controlled with a person wearing its control halo. The foreman, Frank Watt, was the primary user of the halo. However, his son, Willie Watt decided to use the Golem to get revenge on his tormentor, Nelson Nash.

Due to Batman's interference, Watt developed a telepathic link to the Golem and no longer needed the halo. During the Spring Fling dance, Watt summoned it again to attack when Nash beat on him again and his affection for Blade Sommers was unreturned. After Batman defeated them, the Golem was ordered to be dismantled. The contract was awarded to Synthops, a robotics firm. Over a year later, when Terry McGinnis and Howard Groote requested new synthoids for Bruce Wayne at Synthops, the Golem was still being dismantled.
