Eccaine is a synthetic organic compound more powerful but less toxic than coccaine. It is used as a sedative. While on the run, John Dee stole a small amount of medical supplies and settled in the LexCorp harbor warehouse he used to work at. After failing to use his power on Batman, Dee readied a syringe of Eccaine and planned to inject him with it. However, Batman fought back and Dee was instead injected with an overdose. As a result, he was left in a catatonic state.
