In order to prolong his terminal illness, Lex Luthor paid Ultra-Humanite an extra amount of money. Humanite's solution was a green vest-like Containment Vessel charged with a finite amount of energy. Now stabilized, Luthor was still unaware of how long the vessel would aid him and tried in vain to destroy the Justice League alone and with Project Cadmus. However, after a routine physical, Professor Hamilton determined that Luthor's cancer was in complete remission and the Containment Vessel was no longer required. A nanotech copy of Brainiac embedded in Luthor for years was responsible for the cancer's disappearance.
