In theory, a carbon bomb can arrest a nuclear plasma reaction. When the Green Lantern Corps and Justice League were tasked with defeating Despero, Kilowog volunteered his knowledge of thermonuclear mechanics and power ring to quickly build a carbon bomb and destroy the Flame of Py'tar, Despero's power source. Before Kilowog could do so, the Flame made contact with J'onn Jonzz and defeated Despero's forces.
