The Amulet of First Magic is the original source of Earth's magic. At some point in time, it was sealed inside a hand of a statue of a supernatural entity residing in a mountainside temple. In the 21st century, the Amulet was discovered by Morgaine Le Fey and Mordred. She intended to use it to finally make a her son into a king and cast a spell to reveal the Amulet. Mordred, however, took the Amulet for himself and cast a spell with it that banished all adults to a shadow realm.
He then teleported to a Funseyland and transformed it into his own kingdom to rule. To satisfy his new subjects' needs, Mordred summoned various subjects and was challenged by Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern. Soon enough, the four teamed up with Etrigan and specifically targeted the Amulet. Etrigan destroyed it but by that time Mordred had absorbed its magic. Batman then outsmarted Mordred and made him breach a spell his mother cast on him in the Arthurian Era. All the spells cast by the Amulet were reversed.
