The Agony Matrix is an electrical impulse that directs neural stimulation of pain receptors 1000 fold and in a continuous cycle. During the third Apokoliptian invasion of Earth, Darkseid trapped Superman in the Matrix and inflicted pain even on him. After Darkseid and Lex Luthor disappeared, Batman pulled Superman to safety.
