In the World War Two era, Pat Dugan was a car mechanic who moon lighted as a sidekick to a super hero named the Star Spangled Kid. The duo was part of a crime fighting team called the Seven Soldiers of Victory but in a final battle, the seven were thrust into the past, eventually rescued and brought to the present.
Dugan tried to settle down with a family but his cousin stole all of his patents and left him in financial ruin. Divorced, Dugan remarried and started over in Nebraska. When his step daughter stole the Star Spangled Kid's power source and became Star, Dugan created the S.T.R.I.P.E. battle suit to aid and watch over her. The battle suit is essentially a robot with the ability of flight and a resilient exoskeleton. So far, Dugan has used fire spray from shoulder cannons but the battle suit us a weapon with multiple armaments.
Despite her tenure on the Justice League, Stripe still remains overprotective of his step daughter. His veteran experience falls upon deaf ears when he lectures Stargirl on the front. Dugan's original suit was damaged in the battle against Cadmus, but soon created a brand new one to replace it.
