Steve Nash was born on February 7, 1974 in Johannesburg, South Africa. He is half-Welsh and half-British. Nash was raised in Victoria, British Columbia where he took up various sports such as ice hockey, soccer, and rugby before basketball. When he was eight years old, he told his mother he would join the NBA and become a star player. For high school, he attended Mount Douglas Secondary School and Saint Michaels University School. In his 1991-1992 senior year, Nash led his school's basketball team to the British Columbia AAA provincial championship title and was named the province's player of the year. Coach Dick Davey, of Santa Clara University, took a chance on the gutsy guard and offered him a scholarship, despite his less than stellar defensive skills. Nash led the team to three NCAA Tournament appearances, was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Year twice, and became the team's all-time leader in assists.

After graduating in 1996 with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology, Nash was drafted 15th overall in the first round by the Phoenix Suns. Nash was relatively unknown and used mainly to support the Suns' star players. A friend of Nash, Donnie Nelson, convinced his father to acquire Nash. Nelson's father was the coach and general manager of the Dallas Mavericks. In 1998, Nash began his tenure with the Mavericks. He thrived, became one of the top point guards in the NBA, and led the team to the Playoffs alongside Dirk Nowitzki.

He was later chosen to join the Hoop Squad. He accepted and became Point Man. Point Man's suit gives him the power shoot various projectiles from his gauntlets' fingertips such as missiles.
