On Earth, in the parallel universe known as Earth-D, a criminal named J'onn J'onzz was exiled from his home planet of Mars while his family lived in shame. Some centuries later, he ended up on Earth. Themyscira ended in a bloody civil war. A lone survivor named Unatti was stabbed in the back by her own mother. She went to man's world for a new and better life. Superman started out during World War II. Hermann Goring and the Nazis nearly won the war but lost. The nations of the world were horrified to learn what the Nazis unleashed and formed a global government dedicated to peace. Alien invasions and supervillains continued to trouble the planet. Two centuries after the Themysciran civil war, Unatti met Superman and the two later married. J'onn J'onzz met Superman when he first landed on Earth. Feeling lost and broken, Superman lifted him from his despair and inspired him to take up a higher purpose as Martian Manhunter. Terrance Wayne operated as Batman but the Joker eventually crippled him. Utilizing the Whirly Bat, he continued on. Several superheroes came together and formed a team named the Justice Alliance.

The current roster comprised of Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, The Flash, Hawkman, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, and Martian Manhunter. They gathered in Metropolis in response to the vortex that appeared over Metropolis. Superman arrived last, having to stop and respond to an earthquake in Afghanistan and asked what he missed. Hawkman got snippy and pointed out the hundreds or thousands of people around the world vanishing mysteriously and being replaced by confused and frightened strangers. Wonder Woman quipped someone woke up on the wrong side of the nest. Superman clarified he meant the vortex and assumed it was connected to the disappearances. Batman revealed initial probes indicated an energy signature unlike anything they ever encountered. The Alliance was ready to move in for further analysis. Superman sped ahead. Wonder Woman reminded him they were a team. Superman believed they were more a family, the only real family he ever knew which was why he wanted to give it a once over. Wonder Woman sighed and mused there was no changing him. Superman admitted she was probably right but implored her to keep trying. Superman suddenly vanished.

Martian Manhunter couldn't detect his consciousness anywhere on Earth. Aboard their Javelin, they went through the portal and Manhunter used his powers to guide them across the multiverse to find Superman. Manhunter located Superman in Earth-X. He thought it was just skill and luck but he was aided by the J'onn J'onzz on Earth-X, known as the Oracle. The Justice Alliance reunited with Superman at Vandal Savage's fortress and met a Superman from a parallel universe. Martian Manhunter realized the Oracle was Earth-X's J'onn J'onzz and he was drawn to him. The Oracle confirmed the thinning of the dimensional barriers allowed him to connect and awaken. He revealed he probabed infinity for a solution to the multiversal catastrophe and transferred his findings to Martian Manhunter's mind. He died and melted. Manhunter was haunted by in essence seeing his own death and feeling Oracle's consciousness waver like a flame and fade into eternal darkness. They departed in the Alliance's Javelin.

Manhunter sifted through the information and sensed the alternate Superman's ally Wonder Woman in another universe. She was surprised to see her Superman. Superman joked it was technically "Supermen." The League's Superman quickly brought her up to speed and stated they needed her help to save the Multiverse. The alternate Wonder Woman attempted to greet Unatti and referred to her as "sister" since they were both technically daughters of Paradise Island. Unatti coldly shared her tragic past and stated she lost faith in "sisterhood" when her own mother stabbed her in the back. Manhunter soon declared he found the source of the dimensional overlaps and guided the Javelin to the Mirrored Room. They were horrified to see the Infinity-1 Javelin in pieces of members of the Justice League floating in space. Manhunter was reminded of W.B. Yeat's "The Second Coming." The Alliance helped gather up their counterparts who they discovered were still alive. Amazo II revealed itself and emitted Anti-Life like toxic radiation.

The League's Wonder Woman asked what it wanted. Amazo II revealed its origins and admitted to manipulating their Amazo into providing the vibration needed to shatter the doorway. It assumed the League and Alliance would resist. He immobilized them and used telepathy to make them think there engaged it in battle, only to see allies die one by one. Amazo II cast the battle into the landscapes of everyone's minds. Superman clocked him in the face. It back handed Superman. The League's Flash and Vixen fought Overman but were soon grabbed by the throats. Batman fired a missile from his Whirly Bat and the League's Batman threw at exploding Batarang at him. Overman countered with heat vision and killed both Batmen. Superman declared his Batman, Terrance Wayne, was the greatest man he ever knew, crippled by the Joker and he still found a way to fight on. Overman dismissed him as a defective weakling who deserved to die and called Superman a child for weeping for him.

Superman heard enough. He decked Overman and told him to shut the hell up. Hawkman stabbed a hand but took an eye blast. Eventually, both J'onn J'onzz and his Earth-D counterpart sensed something wasn't right and melded minds to discover what Amazo II did. It admitted it did so to demonstrate how futile their plight was. The Justice Alliance was wiped out by Amazo II's Anti-Life but were restored after Batman and Wonder Woman unleashed the Life Equation. The Supermen shook hands. Superman reckoned it was time to head back home and told his counterpart it was an honor. He stated the honor was his. The Alliance boarded their restored Javelin and flew through a portal back to Earth-D.
