After leaving the telepathic unity of his native planet, Bolovax Vik, he became a member of the Green Lantern Corps and was assigned to Space Sector 674. He is a friend of John Stewart, and will always help out when a bad situation arises. Kilowog was once saved by Stewart when he couldn't handle a Nethorian threat.
Kilowog was part of a unit of Green Lanterns who attended John Stewart's tribunal on Adjouris-5. Hawkgirl was able to convince Kilowog, most of all, that Stewart deserved their support. On Kalanor, Kilowog demonstrated his skills went beyond that of controlling a Green Lantern ring. He is also a skilled geneticist and mechanic with vast knowledge of advanced technologies. With his know how of thermo-mechanics, Kilowog devised a carbon bomb designed to snuff out the Flame of P'ytar fueling Despero's power.
