Oliver Queen is an orphan and heir to his late parents' manufacturing empire. While on a lavish cruise, Queen lived up to his playboy billionaire image. Queen was knocked overboard and found himself marooned on Starfish Island. In order to survive, Queen rigged a crude version of a bow and arrow. Eventually, Queen was rescued and he returned to his life in Star City. However, Queen found himself restless. Queen became a vigilante and donned a Robin Hood costume from a party. Realizing how corrupt his city was, Queen became Green Arrow and fought crime and stood up for who he calls the "little people." Queen has a mastery over archery and has exceptional strength and stamina for a normal human. Green Arrow has an array of arrows at his disposal that contain anything from nets, explosives or a blunt boxing glove to knock out crooks with. Some time later, Green Arrow encountered a young boy who he nicknamed "Speedy". Oliver Queen later adopted him and together they were the crime fighting duo, Green Arrow and Speedy. Years later, Speedy parted ways with Green Arrow in order to strike out on his own.
Green Arrow was one of the few who initially didn't respond to the Justice League Unlimited's invitation but his overwhelming sense to help innocent bystanders led him to going out on his own and trying to stop the menace known as Brimstone despite Green Lantern's wishes. After that mission, Green Arrow began to set his eyes on a fellow League recruit named Black Canary. Green Arrow also established a big brother friendship with Supergirl.
While Queen was starting out with the Justice League, he sold his late parent's company for an estimated three billion dollars before taxes and dues of course. Shortly after, Queen was convinced by Black Canary to go on an unofficial mission to help Wildcat. At the time, Queen was conflicted by his feelings for Black Canary and her feelings for him and Wildcat. As Green Arrow, he used one of his arrows to knock out Black Canary and fought Wildcat in her place in a Metabrawl match. Green Arrow used a special arrow that put him into a comatose state that mimiced death. He hoped to shock Wildcat out of his mid-life crisis. After he regained consciousness, Black Canary leveled the site with her scream. Black Canary and Green Arrow struck up a romantic relationship soonafter.
Green Arrow continued to be the voice of reason among the Justice League. After Lex Luthor hacked into the Watchtower and fired the cannon onto New Mexico, Arrow voiced his opinions. He felt that the government was justified in finding methods to protect themselves and that the League must keep on going, with or without its founding members.
