Powers: Intangibility and Death Touch
When the New Gods first came to be, an elemental force of death personified itself as the Racer. It became known that when the Racer appears, atop his cosmically charged skis, he means to collect the soul of a person who will soon die. The Racer was drawn to the so-called Fifth World, Earth. There, it encountered the body of paralyzed Vietnam veteran, Sgt. Willie Walker. Walker merged with the Racer. Aside from being a harbinger of death, the Racer is reputed to be quick, efficient and rarely challenged. It wears armor that allows survival in space and is armed with an electrified staff. The Racer has the power to phase through solid objects and can deliver death with a mere touch. The Racer was last seen during Darkseid's first invasion of Earth, right before Inspector Dan Turpin's murder.
