The Venus Fly Trap is one of the most well known carnivorous plants. It's two-fold red interior resembles a heart and thus earned its name after the Roman goddess of love. When an insect touches hairs in the trap twice, the plant automatically closes down. Over a period of 10 days, the trap begins to secrete enzymes to break down and digest its prey.
After Pamela Isley became Poison Ivy, she began to carry out insane experiments on plants. One of her first trial succcesses was taking a Venus Fly Trap and growing it to gigantic proportions. In addition to its size, the Trap also developed fangs and tendrils to aid in capturing its food. Unfortunately, it set its sights on Batman, who came in search of a cure for Harvey Dent. Batman managed to manipulate Ivy into killing it with her crossbow's arrows.
