Pterodactyls or "winged lizard", were flying reptiles that lived between the late Triassic to the end of the Cretaceous Period (220 to 65.5 million years ago). Often mistaken as dinosaurs, pterodactyls differed by their skeletal design and are considered the earliest vertebrates that evolved powered flight. Physically, they have long and slender jaws filled with teeth, long tails, and wings that stretch out from their legs to a very long fourth finger. The most common member of the Pterodactyl family is the Pteranodon.
In recent times, dinosaurs and pterodactyls survived and continue to thrive in Skartaris, world in the center of the Earth. Perhaps an entire flock of pterodactyls were domesticated by the warlord, Deimos, and used as part of an aerial assault team. A such team attacked Supergirl, Stargirl, Green Lantern and STRIPE when they first appeared. Stargirl and Green Lantern easily dispatched them.
