The Phantom Zone was used by the Kryptonians as a prison for the worst criminals and threats to their planet. Aside from humans, monsters have also been exiled to the Zone. One such creature is a giant, aggressive insect. Decades later, when Superman and Professor Hamilton experimented with the Phantom Zone Projector, the monster was released. Reacting possibly to the yellow sun radiation, it tore through S.T.A.R. Labs and flew into the sky. Superman gave chase and fought it until Hamilton could reactivate the Projector again. Luckily, Hamilton figured it out and returned the monster to the Phantom Zone with only minor property damage incurred.
