After the Big Bang took place in Dakota City, some of the Quantum Vapor seeped into the ground and turned bacteria into a meta-microbe. The nuclei turned purple, the same color as the Vapor, and it grew into a giant with heightened aggression. It surfaced at a construction site where Static was fighting Carmen Dillo. The Meta-Microbe attempted to digest Carmen Dillo but Static intervened and tasered it. It fled underground but quickly resurfaced at the Dakota Meat Packing Company and fed on delivery vans. Static confronted the beast again and managed to cut off several tentacles and secured a specimen.
Together, Virgil Hawkins and Richie Foley would sneak into Dakota Union High School and use the science lab to study it. However, the Meta-Microbe followed them, in search of its missing piece, and attacked students still on campus. While rescuing Omar Harmozi, Static observed its painful reaction to cleaning solution left by the janitor, Mr. Janus. Static then levitated two barrels of the solution and lured the Meta-Microbe to attack it. The Meta-Microbe was caught in the shower of solution and rendered inert. The Dakota City Police Department arrived and sectioned off the remains until a Hazmat team could arrive to procure and safely dispose of it.
