Crocodiles are large reptiles that liven near bodies of water. Known to dwell in just about every continent, the crocodiles are dangerous killers that ambush their prey. To make matters worse, they often attack faster than their prey's reaction time. Unlike other reptiles, they are born with a cerebral cortex, 4 chambered heart, and a diaphragm. This, along with their streamlined shape, make them the perfect water-based predator. They can grow to 16 to 20 feet in length, weigh almost 3000 pounds, and become close to 20 feet in length.
In the city, urban legends pervail about crocodiles that live in sewers. Speculated to be unwanted pets flushed down the toilet, the sewer crocodiles lived unnoticed and grew into monstrous sizes. This legend was confirmed when Batman ventured into Gotham's sewer system to face the Sewer King, only to encounter his pet crocodiles. It is unconfirmed but it appears that after the King's demise, some of these crocodiles were donated to the Gotham Zoo. Years later, while undercover, Bruce Wayne was intoxicated with Scarecrow's new toxin. Fearless, Wayne walked through a crocodile exhibit and dispatched the reptiles. Decades later, Ra's al Ghul incorporated a pen of crocodiles in New Cuba as a method of disposing of interloper's bodies.
