In ancient times, a very clever spider named Kwaku Anansi wished to have the power of storytelling and asked the Sky King. They made a bargain. If Anansi captured three evildoers, he could get his wish. First, Anansi trapped Mmoboro the Hornet then Onini the Serpent, and lastly captured Osebo the Leopard by stranding him in a pit. Sky King accepted the trio and gifted the spider. He then took the power and passed it on to a worthy human when the time came.
Centuries passed and the final fate of these three villains is unknown. In the early 21st century, a trio of supervillains using the same names appeared as enemies of Anansi the Spider in west Africa. It is unknown if this is the original trio or a team of metahumans that adopted the name and motifs. In any case, Osebo is a humanoid leopard but for some reason has stripes instead of spots. Upon learning Dr. Anokye uncovered a treasure map, Osebo organized a robbery while Anokye was on route from Accra to Kumasi in Ghana. Anansi the Spider arrived to stop Osebo but he then ordered his henchmen to derail the train to serve as a distraction. Virgil Hawkins managed to slip a tracer on Osebo as he escaped. Static and Anansi confronted Osebo as he planned to destroy the Akosombo Dam to get to the Ashanti treasure.
Osebo's true objective was to possess the Golden Spider among this treasure. It was the source of Anansi's power and anyone else who possessed it could steal his. He staged another attempt when the treasures went on display in Dakota City at the Dakota Museum of History. Osebo dispatched Mmoboro and Onini but when they failed, Osebo tracked the Spider to Sharon Hawkins and tore through Richie Foley's bedroom to get to her. With the Golden Spider, Osebo nearly defeated Anansi but was himself defeated by one last illusion. Static then used his Static Cling to bond Osebo to the ceiling. The police arrested Osebo, Onini, and Mmoboro.
