Dr. Moon was hired by a criminal to transform a flabby, intelligent, and timid man into the perfect fighting machine. Moon implanted "hardened plastic shields" beneath Gork's skin to protect the most vulnerable parts of his body from physical attack, injected him with hormones that increased his size, strength and stamina, and severed his nerve-trunks to prevent him from recognizing pain impulses. Moon succeeded and he renamed the man "Gork," after the medical slang used to refer to vegetative or catatonic patients. At some point, Gork fought in the Metabrawl circuit. He was present when Green Arrow and Black Canary intervened in a cage match to extract Wildcat.
