Giganta was once a young female ape who was attached to the powerful Gorilla Grodd. Grodd had her transformed into a woman who, along with incredible strength, could grow to tremendous heights. She is hopelessly devoted to Grodd, and as a member of the Secret Society, does whatever he commands. She is his most loyal follower.
Giganta accompanied the Legion unit assigned to steal the corpse of the Viking Prince. However, the Justice League intervened. In an effort to expedite the battle, J'onn Jonzz attempted to read Giganta's mind and learn what was their plan. The failsafe implanted in all Legion member's mind was activated and Giganta was instantly incapcitated. She later got out of jail and rejoined the Legion, and learned of Grodd's relationship with Tala.
