Dr. Childes is head scientist for a Kobra nest in Gotham City. It appears his field of expertise is genetics, as he supervised the creation of Zander and dictated his training regime. Perhaps, as any other cult official, Dr. Childes was suspicious of Max Gibson and didn't completely trust her presence. During the retreat, he was knocked unconscious by Gibson and taken aboard an escape pod.
