Abnegazar, Rath, and Ghast are a trio of lesser demons that inhabited the Earth over a billion years ago. The entities were banished to Tartarus by the Greek gods where they "suffer eternal torment for their sins".
In an effort to narrow down their search for Felix Faust, Shayera Hol and Wonder Woman whisked Abnegazar away and interrogated him. When it became apparent he wasn't going to willingly reveal anything, Wonder Woman used her magic lasso on him. Abnegazar was then forced to tell the truth and led the duo to the entrance to Hades' library where Faust resided.
