Synthoids are used sparingly and requires federal clearance. They are applied merely as aids to others. However, synthoids are still illegally customized in the black market. While Howard Groote accompanied Terry McGinnis to Synthops, a robotics manufacturer, Groote met a worker named Louie. Louie sold an unwitting Groote his own synthoid girlfriend, complete with green eyes, red hair and total devotion programming. Named Cynthia, the synthoid became too possessive and attacked any women who got too close to Groote. He tried to break up with her but she blew up instead.
