Mark Desmond dedicated himself to finding a way to become super human, minus the day to day regime of working out and living healthy. Using himself as the guinea pig, Desmond experimented with serums that gave him super strength and endurance but the tradeoff was he lost his mental capacity. Desmond was left in the care of his brother Roland who decided to never tell their mother what events had transpired. Roland manipulated Mark into committing petty crimes and other illegal rackets.
