Ted Smiesel was a best selling children's author. However, his mind was overcome by the telepathic influence of the Centre. Smiesel coped with this by writing a book. Titled "The King of Monster Island," he recounted the life of the Centre and its intentions. This became Smiesel's last book. Upon its completion, he committed suicide.
