Real Identity: Rex Mason

Rex Mason was an adventurer who was hired by the ruthless industrialist, Simon Stagg, to find an Egyptian artifact called the Orb of Ra. It was no coincidence that Mason was dating Stagg's daughter Sapphire. Mason was double-crossed by Stagg's henchman, Java, and left for dead near in an Egyptian pyramid. The Orb of Ra was real and mutated Mason into a shapeshifting oddity. As Metamorpho, he sought out to rectify his condition but Sapphire Stagg convinced him otherwise. Ultimately, Metamorpho joined the Justice League of America.
