Two brothers, Michael and Will Magnus founded Magnus Robotics. Having mastered several degrees related to cybernetics, Will Magnus continued to attempt to create the perfect robot.
Due to government contracts, Dr. Magnus was recruited by Argent to help with Operation Flying Cloud, a mission to Mars. In order to blind Soviet radar during launch, Dr. Magnus woud conduct an electromagnetic screen of interference.
Afterward, Dr. Magnus used a nuclear-powered "responsometer" created by his wife, Sharon, to try to imprint his personality on a robot and give it artificial intelligence. Instead, his brother, Michael was trapped in it. Subsequently, several more people were, including his wife. The Metal Men were born. While Magnus went to work on a cure, the Metal Men became a super hero group.
