Dr. Arthur Light and Dr. Jacob Finlay were research scientists at STAR Labs. Using light manipulating technology created at STAR, Finlay created a costume intent on becoming a super hero. By accident, Light killed Finlay and took the suit to originally protect himself from the ghost of Finlay. However, Light also took Finlay's alias, Dr. Light, and became a criminal.
