Fort Carlin is a United States Army military base located on the border of Texas. Metallo was a model prisoner and was being moved to new quarters. However, he heard General Lane's name and became agititated. He broke from his restraints and punched Lane's Jeep. Metallo demanded Lane's surrender or he would kill everyone on base. Lane ordered the soliders to stay back then tried to talk Metallo down in vain. Superman arrived and blasted an arm with heat vision. Superman took a Kryptonite concussive blast then grabbed Lane and quickly flew to Louisiana before he weakened too much.
