The Trident of Poseidon is a powerful mystical weapon. It is said when Atlantis sank into the ocean, the then king used the Trident to save his people but irreversibly turned them into creatures of the sea. Since then, the Trident was passed down to the next ruler. Only those of royal blood could wield the Trident. Anyone else who tries to is electrocuted.
Under Orm's possession, the Trident was able to wound Superman, absorb and redirect his heat vision, nearly killed Cyborg, destroy a Green Power Ring construct, propel Green Lantern into a building, summon lightning powerful enough to revert Shazam back into Billy Batson, and encase several of them in pods. Wonder Woman was able to briefly hold and resist the Trident's security measures before Orm summoned it back to his grasp. Arthur Curry defeated Orm, took the Trident and became the next king of Atlantis.
