The Power Rings are inventions of the Guardians of the Universe in their bid to arm their Green Lantern Corps in policing the space sectors of the universe. The rings can not be turned on in a conventional sense by buttons or the like. Instead, the user must concentrate. Once that is achieved, the ring can generate, in theory, any thing as an electromagnetic solid light construct. Each ring also contains all knowledge the Guardians possess and gifts flight to the user. The Green Lantern Hal Jordan has used his ring to fire laser beams and generated a giant baseball glove, train, dragon, elevator, bear trap, protective bubble, jet for quick travel, chains, anvil, hammer, sling, battleship, rocket, shield, bed, and fully armed mechanoid battlesuit. John Stewart has generated pincers and chained medieval weapons.
