The Batplane is a modified jet plane owned by Batman. It also goes by the name Batwing. Going on Robin's recollection, he and Batman took the Batplane to Interlaken to rescue Dr. Langstrom's family. The Batplane was later armed with Langstrom's Man-Bat Serum antidote. Nightwing piloted the Batplane and dropped Batman off at an oil rig off the Outer Hebrides used by Deathstroke to mine a Lazarus Pit. Langstrom manned the plane's ventral turret and blasted the Man-Bat Ninjas with the antidote.

After Scarecrow made threats against Gotham City Hall, Batman pursued his henchmen from the Batplane. Just as he lowered the harpoon gun from the plane, Batman was interrupted by Green Lantern. With the operation set back, Batman flew off to S.T.A.R. Labs Metropolis to investigate the S.S. California. He then took the plane to Dr. Stephen Shin's office and later to Arthur Curry's location. Batman flew the plane back to Metropolis while several Leaguers escorted Curry and Mera to Atlantis. During the Dollmaker case, Batman took the Batplane to Ichabod after Robin stole the Batmobile. He dropped into Schott's Toys. Months later, the Batwing was used by Nightwing, Batwoman, and Robin to fly to the World Tech Summit. With the schematics of the Watchtower Initiative provided by Batwing, Nightwing was able to jam its radar and shut down the alarm system. After Batwoman pointed out the jet and Batwing had the same name, Nightwing engaged the autopilot. They jumped and boarded the Watchtower.

Irritated with being under-utilized during the siege of the Hall of Justice, Robin summoned the Batplane against Batman's orders. He decided to ram it into the Corruptor-possessed Weather Wizard, estimating the three kiloton hit generated by the missiles and fuel cell would be enough to neutralize him. The blast sent Weather Wizard plummeting and Wonder Woman ensnared him in her Lasso of Truth, forcing the Corruptor out.
