Koriand'r was born a princess on Tamaran, her homeworld and a harsh realm. She received training from the Warlords of Okaara. In her teens, she was forced to leave when her homicidal sister Komand'r staged a coup and took the throne. With little time, Koriand'r was only able to take a small jewel with her. She was essentially exiled and found her way to Earth. The Gordanians followed her to an American city and battled her in an aerial brawl. She was knocked into the street below then struck when she looked up at her pursuers. They dragged her from the crater but the Teen Titans suddenly intervened on her behalf. Robin attacked the two Gordanians holding her under the cover of a smoke screen generated by Speedy's exploding arrows. She said something in her native Tamaranean language. Robin deduced she was talking about the Gordanian's portal above the city. He hailed Speedy on the comm line and requested something "loud" to shut it down. Speedy fired a high explosive into it and the flow reversed. Anyone and anything in the vicinity was pulled in.
Robin grabbed her left arm and fired a grapnel line. A Gordanian grabbed Koriand'r's leg and he lost his grip on her. He let go of the grapnel, turned, and threw a Birdarang into the Gordanian. It was knocked into the portal. Robin grabbed her by the wrist and she reciprocated. After the portal closed, they fell to the streets. She took the brunt of the fall and landed on her back. She said something then kissed him. Beast Boy took a photo and started posting on his Tweeter social media account. She suddenly began speaking in English, thanking him and introduced herself as Koriand'r of the planet Tamaran then explained her people learned languages through the act of kissing. Robin asked if she was okay. Koriand'r spoke about her sister Komand'r. Robin offered her sanctuary until she figured out what to do next. Koriand'r accepted and asked for two or three days, a week at the longest. Robin introduced her to the other Titans. Kid Flash mentioned he spoke some Spanish. Speedy chimed in her took up to second year high school French. Bumblebee was dismayed.
Koriand'r took up the codename Starfire and remained a refugee on Earth. After Dick Grayson left the Teen Titans, Starfire took over as the team leader. Starfire asked what all the noise was and Nightwing said it was just construction. Once Nightwing dispatched Blockbuster, he told Starfire the traffic cleared up but he suddenly got an emergency alert from Alfred Pennyworth. Nightwing begrudgingly cancelled on Starfire and headed for the Batcave. Over a week later, after the World Tech Summit incident, Nightwing departed Wayne Manor to finally see Starfire. After the unveiling of the Hall of Justice, Robin was sent to train with the Teen Titans to learn how to be part of a team. After a day, Blue Beetle finally had enough of Robin disrespecting Starfire and the two fought. After the Scarab blasted Robin, Starfire flew to his side and confirmed he was alive but barely. Raven was able to heal him.
Later that night, Starfire was not pleased to see Robin had trespassed in her room and was looking for files on Raven. He didn't find much and admonished her for not vetting. Starfire insisted faith was important. Robin countered faith was belief in the absence of data and that invited disaster. Starfire held a video chat with Nightwing and expressed her frustrations with Robin. She admitted Robin reminded her of her sister. Nightwing reminded her he didn't have a proper and fun childhood but was raised by assassins then moved in with his father, Batman. Starfire got an idea and thanked Nightwing then signed off before he could ask what. Starfire took the Titans to a carnival for a night of mandatory fun and bonding. Later into the night, Raven was attacked by Trigon's Corruptors. Starfire declared, "Titans, go!" and everyone switched to their uniforms. Even Raven dispatched the demons. Starfire inquired what was going on. Raven teleported the Titans to Azarath and told the truth about her past and father, who was Trigon, an interdimesional conqueror and demon.
Starfire agreed with Robin that Raven should stay with the Titans instead of running away to keep Trigon off her trail. The Justice League suddenly arrived and asked Raven to come with them for questioning. Robin and then Raven refused. Starfire attempted to break the tension but the Corruptors arrived and possessed the League. Starfire fought Wonder Woman but was no match. Wonder Woman threatened to break her neck with the Lasso of Truth. Raven conceded and ordered the Corruptors to spare the Titans. 24 hours later, Cyborg regained consciousness. Starfire asked him how they could save Raven but he had no answers. Robin had a plan of his own. Cyborg, Starfire, and Blue Beetle flew through a Boom Tube to the Middle East and lured Superman to them with an onslaught. At the last second, they scattered and Robin stabbed Superman with Kryptonite and freed him. The Titans went for Raven but it was too late. Trigon arrived.
The Titans and Cyborg went to Trigon's realm and imprisoned him in a shard of crystal he escaped from. 10 days later, the Justice League confirmed there were no more signs of the Corruptors. The League congratulated them on saving the world and them. Starfire agreed with Wonder Woman and was proud of the Titans. After Nightwing rejoined the Teen Titans, the team began conducting raids on H.I.V.E. and their bases for months. On the night of a full moon, they made their move on a third base, which was situated atop a steep, isolated hill in the desert. Starfire and Nightwing took out the sentries while the others lay in wait. Starfire stomped a sentry then Nightwing threw their hover board into the other. Nightwing admitted the hill would be a tough climb, especially in moonlight, and they were bound to be spotted but he thought of waiting for cloud cover. Starfire finally got his attention by yelling his name. She revealed Terra would take them up to the base. She used her earth manipulating powers to move them up in the interior of the hill like an elevator.
Starfire advised everyone to keep calm. Nightwing advised everyone to channel all their thoughts to the enemy. He stopped himself and deferred to Starfire, but she implored him to continue. Nightwing stated H.I.V.E. was comprised of zealots and extremists who would sacrifice themselves without hesitation and the quicker they took them down, the better. Starfire blew a hole in the floor six inches above them. The Titans began their assault. Soldiers in exo suits joined the battle. Nightwing suggested the move Starfire taught him last weekend. She teased him for his boldness. Nightwing clarified he meant the training move. She lifted him up and flew him over the exo suits. Nightwing landed on one, punched the pilot then used the suit to shoot another. The other exo suit opened fire, forcing him to jump. Nightwing made his way to the command room and tried to override the locked door. He elbowed a soldier just as Starfire joined him. They took turns taking down soldiers. She requested he stop leaving himself open.
Nightwing began talking about taking the next step in their relationship. Six soldiers opened fire on them. The other Titans caught up and dispatched them. Nightwing began a data transfer then revealed to Starfire he got an apartment in the city. He then proposed sharing it with her and presented a duplicate key for her. She was elated and hugged him. The next day, at the Tower, Starfire fought three holograms of Gordaninans in the training room. She invited Terra to join her and declared the staff helped her clear her mind. Terra declined and revealed she was just trying to avoid Beast Boy. Starfire continued but Terra just brushed him off as a jerk and asked if it was true Raven's father was trapped in the jewel on her head. Starfire confirmed it was true and told her he was a demon named Trigon and they had issues. Terra quipped at least she knew where her father was. Starfire suggested she talk to Raven more but Terra found her too creepy then left the room.
Robin informed Grayson was going out on patrol and congratulated him on his co-habitation with Starfire. He admitted she proved herself as a decent leader and approved of them. Starfire and Terra checked in. Grayson admitted he didn't find much in the files yet but stated the program would take one to two days to finish. Beast Boy inquired about Reyes. They observed him on the monitor jabbing a punching bag in frustration. Beast Boy was eager to continue his game of foosball and asked about Reyes. Starfire advised Terra to join him. Grayson continued helping Starfire pack well into the night. She found the jewel she took when she fled Tamaran. Grayson consoled her but the Tower started to shake. Terra had another one of her super powered nightmares. Grayson asked how often that happened. Starfire only replied it happened enough. Robin voiced his concern. Raven reminded him Starfire was in charge, not him. The next day, Starfire presided over training session outside the Tower.
Starfire started by quoting the most important lesson instilled in her by the Warlords of Okaara, to be ready for anything, you must train for everything. Starfire and Nightwing went first. She quickly swept him off his feet with her staff. Raven joked they knew who was taking out the garbage. Starfire complimented him and noted he lasted longer than last time. Terra snickered. Starfire clarified she meant in training but added he was very proficient in sex. Nightwing got embarrassed and stopped her from finishing her sentence. The session came to an end when Terra snapped and lost control. Starfire blasted at her feet and knocked Terra on her back. That night, Grayson countered to Robin that Terra needed understanding and agreed with Starfire's assessment. Robin warned him decisions made with his heart would get people killed. The next day, Koriand'r and Grayson starting unpacking her boxes in the apartment. He was surprised by how many weapons she brought with her and hung up a sai and a battleaxe.
Grayson noticed she was troubled by something. She told about how they met with him after the incident at the training field with Terra. Grayson insisted they were just talking and would never undermine her. Koriand'r got to the core of the issue, that they went to him instinctively because he was a great leader. Grayson reminded her they chose her to lead them and he was glad she chose to move in with him. Koriand'r retorted at least she was his first choice for that. Grayson joked Beast Boy had a house already and Jaime Reyes couldn't afford the rent. She called him a brat and pushed him onto the couch. They were about to kiss but got a text from Robin sent by Deathstroke. Grayson mentioned Robin approved of them. They kissed. The Titans threw Terra a party to celebrate her one year anniversary of joining the team. While Grayson and Koriand'r slow danced, the computer alerted him it was done with Blood's files. They went to the terminal room and found a lead on a molecular biologist.
The Titans deployed to his personal lab. Starfire saw the biologist running for it. She ordered Raven to go after him while she covered her. The biologist was killed by one of his own drones before they could question him. Instead, they discovered photos and research about the Titans in his briefcase. Grayson was concerned they as far as write-ups on genetic make up and theories on their powers. Starfire wanted to recall Robin from his solo mission but Grayson pointed out he was stubborn. Starfire ordered everyone to be extra vigilant as they went about their lives. Koriand'r attempted to cook a meal but only made a mess and dirty dishes. She advised Grayson to pick something up on the way back after he checked on Jaime Reyes and Garfield Logan. She put out the fire with an extinguisher. After Grayson hung up, the door bell rang. She peeked at the keyhole and saw no one. She creaked the door open and saw a present with a note from Grayson. She opened it and was knocked out. Deathstroke retrieved her.
Grayson discovered Jaime Reyes was kidnapped and tried to send out a warning to the other Titans then called the apartment but he got the answering machine. He stated he was going to get Beast Boy and told Koriand'r to go to the Tower. After discovering Beast Boy was darted and kidnapped at Metro-Con, he returned to the apartment and burst in. He saw a card written out to her and picked up her keepsake from Tamaran. Deathstroke suddenly swung in from outside and attacked Grayson. Grayson managed to fake his death and ran a trace on Terra's cell phone. Deathstroke fulfilled his contract with Brother Blood, the leader of H.I.V.E., and bound the Titans to his Enervator machine. Grayson suited up and stowed away on the underside of a H.I.V.E. transport on its way to the Church of Blood headquarters. Starfire demanded to know what happened to Robin. Deathstroke admitted he beat him for mouthing off. Starfire couldn't believe at first that Terra was a double agent the entire time. Deathstroke remarked to Starfire they would have been fantastic lovers.
While Blood used his Enervator machine to take on the Titan's powers, Nightwing revealed himself and liberated the Titans. Starfire and Nightwing hugged only to be blown away by a starbolt fired by the mutated Brotehr Blood. Terra's instability triggered the destruction of the Church of Blood taking out the principal antagonists. Some time after Brother Blood was defeated, Kevin Smith invited Beast Boy on his podcast. Despite knowing not to ask, he addressed rumors of a new girl on their team. Beast Boy only commented she was a "wonderful" addition to the team and insisted Starfire would kill him if he said anything else. Smith was sure there was no way Starfire was listening to the podcast and joked she was brushing her hair. Beast Boy stated his lips were sealed then turned into a seal. Smith asked if she was a replacement for Terra, amid all the rumors circulatining. Beast Boy decided to make a statement about Terra. Grayson and Koriand'r settled down in their apartment to watch an episode of Looney Tunes with Daffy Duck.
