After Orm neutralized Arthur Curry, Mera, and the Justice Leaguers with them, he had the Trenchers dispose of them over a cliff to the "horrors of the deep trench." A giant beast with arms and tentacles gathered some of the pods the unconscious heroes were sealed in. Curry used his royal lineage to disintegrate the pod he was trapped in and freed Superman. Superman used his heat vision to sever the Trench Monster's tentacles and save his allies. Superman connected with an uppercut, rammed the beast into the cliff wall then buried it under rubble.
