During a full show, one weekend, the trapeze artist Boston Brand started his death defying act as usual. A man with a hook for hand aimed his rifle into the circus tent and fired. Brand was killed but the goddess Rama Kushna took pity and gave him the power to possess the living so he could bring his killer and others to justice.
