A child of Rao, Krypton's living Sun, it powers Superman's Fortress of Solitude. One of the many problems the Fortress of Solitude's stewards wanted Superman to deal with was to tame Rao's child with strength and force of will as it stirred in the heart of the base. He did not. Over a month after he lost his powers, Clark Kent started receiving fiery visions of the Fortress of Solitude accompanied by someone speaking in Kryptonese. After the chief steward realized Kent had strength and listened to his description of his visions, he took Superman to Rao's child. He explained Rao was Krypton's living sun but many of his offspring survived him, including one that powered the fortress. Kent realized Rao's child could restore his powers. Chief steward agreed but warned he was a terrible elemental force and a god who could just as easily destroy him. Kent was resolute and ready to pay the price. He was seemingly immolated by Rao's child but his powers were restored.
