Season Three
The Kents held their annual Kent Farm Pumpkin Patch on Halloween. Jimmy Olsen livestreamed to his Birdwatchers on Flamebird. Kara Zor-El was impressed with a dog in a pumpkin costume. Olsen hyped the apple-bobbing, hay-riding, pumpkin-carving, and the corn maze. He admitted the corn maze was so big, Supergirl had to rescue him. Lois Lane, dressed as a mad scientist, realized Kara and Olsen were in matching costumes and wondered if that hinted at their status. Kara explained they were dressed as Ace Morgan and June Robbins from "Challengers of the Unknown," a television series they were watching together. Lane inquired further but Clark Kent, dressed as the mad scientist's creation, called Kara over to help with the tractor. Olsen told Lane not to blow up his spot with Kara. She teased him. Olsen admitted he liked her back but felt like she had to world to see first and she could do better. Kara popped up and asked him for more small value currency for the plant labyrinth. Olsen realized she meant change for the corn maze. Lane teased change was good.
Kent set up a girl dressed as an omelette and a girl dressed as bacon for a hay-ride. Lane vented to Kent but he wanted Olsen and Kara to figure things out by themselves since neither of them had any prior romantic experience. Lane was surprised Olsen didn't and recalled they had bunk beds in their apartment. He revealed he was thinking about their future and founf a moderately-priced three-bed, two-bath ranch house just outside of Metropolis in a well-reviewed school district. Lane became alarmed and asked him how long he was looking into it. He revealed he was looking around since the Brainiac incident. Lane remarked it would be a lot of change. He countered change was good. Lane didn't see any reason to rush into it and thought they had a good thing going.
Sam Lane showed up in uniform and had a slice of pie. Lois Lane was surprised to see him and asked what he was doing there. He claimed he was retired but she was skeptical. He stated he was now with the Pentagon. She asked him if he was really just there for the pie. He added he came to see his daughter and gave her a compass he found while he cleaned out his office. He told her it would help her find her way since she had her whole future ahead of her. She thanked him and they hugged. To her chagrin, he whispered he found out about a recent server breach at the Pentagon which led to the theft of files detailing the decommissioned Project Caliban, a secret biotech research program that ran parallel to Project Cadmus and Task Force X. She realized it was a Kryptonian biotech program. He asked for her "flying friend" to look into it. She thanked him for the tip and rushed off. He clarified only Superman should look into it.
Superman, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Supergirl, and Superboy retired to the Kent Farm on November 15th to get all patched up after brokering peace between mankind and Subterranosauri. Instead of playing catch, Superboy went to help Lane with her article. He helped with spelling Tyrannko's name right. Superboy loved the article and thought she was just how he imagined her. Lane keyed in on "imagined" and snatched a family photo without him noticing. He thanked for the day's festivities and admitted he needed it. Lane admitted she thought she did, too. Superboy helped Pa Kent with work on the truck by holding up the rear. Kara Zor-El called everyone in to watch a live news report about Cyborg Superman's rampage. Superman and Supergirl left for the city. Superboy was stunned, having thought he would have more time. Lane pressed him for answers. Superboy revealed in his time, she and Superman were dead and he came to the present to save them and everyone from Cyborg Superman.
Jimmy Olsen consoled Ma Kent while Lane pressed Superboy for more information. He revealed Cyborg Superman and his drones destroyed the world and killed her but that was why Dr. Luthor sent him back in time, to save everyone. She asked why he didn't just tell her all of that sooner. Superboy confessed it all happened so fast and just wanted to be a part of their world. He promised he wouldn't let his future happen and he would save her and Superman. He told her to stay on the farm where it was safe. She demanded in vain he come back. Lane borrowed Pa Kent's truck and took off for Metropolis with Olsen. After a new version of Superboy arrived, and in addition a new Supergirl who was also their child, Kent and Lane decided to try and figure things out at the Kent farm. Jonathan tried to grasp that they previously came to the present and tried to change the future. Lane corrected him and informed him Lara wasn't there. She was startled. Lane added they are so happy to meet her. Lara was concerned at the implication she didn't exist. Lane told her not technically. Lara worried she was an accident. Kent was at a loss for words.
Jonathan theorized things didn't work out but Kent repeated his life was saved. Jonathan was tired of hearing that and repeated that was a different version of him. Lane stated he made the present better. Jonathan countered his future was made worse. Olsen and Kara arrived. Olsen sensed he said something wrong on the way over. She directly asked him what he wanted. Olsen replied he wanted to be a better friend. She keyed on "friend" and asked him if that was all he wanted. Olsen added he just wanted to be with her then asked what she wanted. Kara told Olsen she wanted to trust him but she was afraid he would leave her alone again. Before Olsen would react, Kent opened the front door and quickly ushered them inside to meet the twins. Kara was elated to see Superboy but Lane told him it wasn't that Jon. Kent warned not to provoke him. Kara welcomed "New Jon." He repeated his name was Jonathan. Lara suggested they should get back on mission. Jonathan pointed out how well that worked out for the last guy.
Lane asked what the mission was. Lara clarified it was a mission given to them by General Lane. Lane wasn't surprised her father was still giving orders. Olsen tried to look at the silver lining and was glad to have Superboy back. He stated he was Superman. Olsen pointed out they already had one. He asked if they really did. Olsen tried to cut the tension by offering Pa Kent's world famous pound cake but Jonathan stormed out. Olsen also offered snicker doodles. Kent tried to talk to him and offer to listen but Jonathan wasn't moved by the thought of having a heart-to-heart or hearing a motivational speech. Kara listened to their conversation. Jonathan wasn't about to hear about a better tomorrow or play a game of catch. He threw a baseball across a field and ignited it. He revealed he learned to use his powers on his own and defended Earth on his own because no else was there. Kara walked away. Jonathan told Kent to stay out of his way and he didn't come to save Superman. He flew away. Kent had another vision.
Lane tried to coax Lara into trying a cookie and a glass of milk and get her to open up about the mission. Lara stated the mission was confidential but blurted out their mission was to kill Lex Luthor. Lane was shocked they were sent in time to commit murder. Lara stated it was to protect the future. Lane wondered what kind of future she came from. Lara explained in her time Luthor commanded a personal army of mind controlled Kryptonian clones called Eradicators. Lane thought there had to be another way to stop him and she didn't have to kill Luthor just because her dad told them to. Lara was puzzled and told her she was General Lane. Lane and Kent sat down in the living room and sighed at the same time. She thought she was a horrible parent. Kent agreed and felt bad for Jonathan. She was puzzled and clarified she was alluding to Lara. She mused Future Lois did her best to be a mother. Kent pointed out he somehow missed their kids' lives two times in a row. Lane wondered if she was the problem and she was the reason Lara turned out the way she did. Kent was confused and asked what was wrong with her. Lane realized Lara was gone. Everyone headed to Metropolis to look for her.
After Eradicator was defeated, Lois Lane adopted a dog on Kent's behalf. He was named Krypto. Kara and Olsen played with him while they talked by the tree. She reckoned he wasn't a whole farm but thought Krypto was pretty great. She remembered Kent never did tell her how he got his powers back. He only hinted he made deal and a friend his parents sent with him to Earth knew what to do. She asked what the cost was. Kent told her it was nothing he wasn't willing to pay. Lane revealed she got him a present and told him she can't choose what's coming but she can choose how to face it and she wanted to be with him. She presented miniature figures of him and her. Kent was surprised. She went down on one knee, revealed a ring, and proposed marriage. He accepted.
