Cat Grant got Perry White to assign Lois Lane to write an article about the Superfest at the Metropolis Convention Center since no one knew Superman like she did. Jimmy Olsen, Supergirl, Clark Kent, and Lois Lane arrived to set up Olsen's booth. Supergirl was headlining a panel and planned to tell people she wanted to be called "Power Woman" but Lane pointed out a "Welcome Supergirl" banner. Kent's only duty as Superman was to introduce Supergirl at her panel, then he planned to spend the rest of the convention as himself. Olsen presented a gift to everyone, a custom Flamebird watch that let them radio Superman for help anytime, anywhere. Lane didn't find it necessary but Olsen pointed out anytime they went to a gala, an event, or a conference, it got attacked by a supervillain. Supergirl thanked him for the token of his affection. Olsen pointed out it was for all of his closest yet platonic friends. Lane grabbed him by the back of the collar and told him he was blowing his shot with Kara then threatened to call Kent.
To his chagrin, she understood the part where Kara was Supergirl and he was just Jimmy but warned him he was going to hurt Kara. Olsen refused to trap her in a relationship that wouldn't last. She retorted no one knew the future. Olsen pointed out she grew up in a cage and deserved a real shot at what the world has to offer, to find out what makes her happy. Lane asked him if he was what would do that. Olsen assured her he had it under control and everything was fine the way it was. At the booth, Olsen presented his Superman's Pal comics inspired by true events. Kent immediately noticed the comics depicted Olsen as the true hero always helping out Superman. Olsen assured him that's what sells and revealed he believed the comics would help him replenish his wealth. Lane was annoyed to see she was a villain in the comic. Olsen explained an enemy-to-lover story was liked by everyone. Gabby and Patty presented the "metrics" that proved Superman's Girlfrenemy would be a sure fire hit. Lane still wasn't happy about the puff piece assignment. Cat Grant popped up out of nowhere and was sure she would find the story like she always did.
In short order, Lane spotted Winslow Schott and tailed him with Clark Kent in tow to the Schott's Toys booth. She believed Schott was up to something, not having forgotten he tried to blow her and Sam Lane up with an explosive teddy bear once. Kent wished her luck and left to go present Supergirl at a panel as Superman. Bizarro, dressed as Superman, happily took a photograph with a trio of superhero cosplayers. Supergirl kept wanting to help out at the booth like the Newskid Legion but Olsen turned down her offers. She offered to procure hot dogs and got real close to his face. Cat Grant returned and prodded Jimmy Olsen about how he and Supergirl spent a lot of time together. Olsen denied anything was going on but Supergirl returned with two Challengers of the Unknown cosplayers and mentioned their couples costume from Halloween. Grant was amused. Supergirl took Olsen aside and clarified she felt romantic affection for him and wanted him to be her mate like Kent and Lane were. Olsen tried to explain to her Kent got to see the whole world out there before becoming Lois' "mate" and she, too, had to do the same before she made an important decision about her future. Supergirl was crestfallen.
Superman arrived to collect her for her panel. Superman introduced Supergirl but excused himself after he overheard a bank robbery in progress. Cat Grant hosted the Supergirl Panelpalooza but asked questions instead of calling on the audience. She asked Supergirl what her sign was. Supergirl replied it was "S" on Earth. Grant asked what the secret to her luminous, dewy skin was. Supergirl replied she washed her face. Grant was amused at her youthful naivete.
A mother purchased one of the teddy bears on sale for her daughter. Schott was startled by Lane. She inquired if he had built any dangerous new novelty weapons lately that might detonate or explode. He asked if he knew her. Lane scoffed and reminded him he tried to kill her. Schott remembered she was Sam Lane's daughter and pleaded with her to lower her voice since her family already destroyed his life. Lane was taken aback. He claimed to be a mere toy merchant running a normal business. She asked him if he was sure about that. He asked her to leave him in peace to share the joy of toys with others. She refused.
Grant asked what made her so unique from Superman after commenting Metropolis didn't need two superheroes. Supergirl was at a loss then pointed out a girl in the audience. Grant ordered her to speak. The girl thought Supergirl was special because she was brave and a warrior. She admitted she loved how Superman protected them but she loved how Supergirl fought for them and wished she was as brave as her. Supergirl was happy. Grant asked for her name. The girl introduced herself as Jessica Cruz. Supergirl thanked her. Grant asked what was next. Supergirl stated she needed to make an important decision about her future and invited any and all eligible Earthling suitors to meet her at her booth. Grant was ecstatic. A man who looked like a muscular version of Jimmy asked Supergirl for an autograph for his boyfriend. Supergirl noted the resemblance.
From his booth, Olsen kicked himself for not thinking Supergirl would immediately look for someone better and called it a disaster. Lex Luthor thought his comic book was the disaster. He disliked the muscular designs and asked who drew it. He mused no one ever appreciated a slender frame. Olsen asked why he was at the convention. Luthor told him he was an entrepreneur on a mission and always on the look out for innovative opportunities. He hinted he found an exceptional one then left his business card. He invited Olsen to stop by at his presentation. Olsen tossed it in the trash. Lane broke several toys in her search for weapons. Schott insisted he was reformed. Lane still didn't believe him and stated she found the truth for a living. Schott pointed out she was scaring the customers. Lane believed he had a bomb hiding in the teddy bears and snatched one from a girl. Lane warned everyone to back away but realized it was just an ordinary teddy bear. The girl cried and her mother admonished Lane. Lane panicked she was "Villain Lois" just like in Jimmy Olsen's Superman's Pal comic book.
A man played his guitar and sang to Supergirl. A boy gave her a paper heart. She liked how it was perfectly symmetrical. A mime's performance kept her on the edge of her seat. Grant got the drop on Olsen again and asked if he was pining for the one who got away and if he would fight for her affection. He reiterated she was Supergirl and he was just Superman's pal. A tired Clark Kent returned to Olsen's booth and remarked being Superman was harder than it used to be. Olsen remarked everyone at the convention loved him. Kent heard Lane trying to apologize in vain. Kent arrived at Schott's Toys and presented a new bear to the girl and offered to pay for the damaged one. Schott was grateful. Kent saw some Farm Marm toys he wanted, too. He cued Lane to apologize but she spotted oddly accurate looking missiles, a gatling gun, and ammo cases. She decided to taunt Schott into incriminating himself and apologized for thinking he was more than an unremarkable old tinkerer and she overestimated him when there was no way a harmless little toyman could make bear bombs or invent incredible weapons no one ever dreamed of. She "admitted" she was so caught up in their past and getting a story, she failed to see how he could never be a threat to anyone.
Schott had enough and activated his giant mechanical mobile suit. Lane was pleased but not Kent. Before he could change into Superman, Hank Henshaw knocked it outside onto its back. Lex Luthor presented Henshaw as a homegrown American hero, created with his human ingenuity and Henshaw's iron will, after being shot down in last year's alien invasion. Henshaw repeatedly punched the mech suit into submission well after it was defeated. Luthor stated they no longer needed to rely on the mercy of violent aliens to keep them safe. Henshaw struck the mech suit one last time. Luthor stated they had power then asked Lane if she wanted a blurb for the Daily Planet. She asked Henshaw what this was all about. He stated it was about taking back humanity's future.
