An armored Kryptonian solider, later codenamed Nemesis Omega, sent an invasion force of robots through a portal to the U.S. Army's base outside Metropolis on Earth but the destruction of Krypton forced the portal to suddenly close. The Army suffered many casualties. The Army commissioned Task Force X and reverse-engineered the robots left behind in preparation for the next invasion. They were codenamed XT-00. Task Force X later used some of the robots to shut down their counterpart Project Cadmus.
About 22 years after the invasion, dubbed Zero Day, Leslie Willis stole high-tech weapons from the Mt. Simonson Base. Willis had a difficult time flipping the tech. Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen stumbled upon them at the docks and one of Willis' hired mercenaries activated a XT-00 robot without asking Willis first. Clark Kent disguised himself and stopped the robot but Willis activated the remaining ones. Task Force X deployed several XT-00 robots in their pursuit of Heatwave. On Thanksgiving, the dormant robots on Kal-El's ship reactivated but were shut down again when Superman inserted a piece of Kryptonite into the ship's power core. Brainiac maintained several robots on his Kandor ship but many were destroyed in his invasion of Earth or left littered around Metropolis in the aftermath. Those laying around were salvaged by criminal elements. The Whip got her Kryptonite from one such robot left behind.
Several XT-00 robots were mobilized for the battle against the Eradicator at Area Zero.
