Season One
Mr. Mxyzptlk is a fifth dimensional being who built a weapon that distorts reality. He commits crimes for a laugh and enjoys conning rubes, playing tricks, and destroying worlds. He is hyper-intelligent and always one step ahead of the authorities. Anyone who tries to stop him gets wiped out along with their planet. Mxyzptlk began to call himself a chaos god at some point. The League of Lois Lanes, an interdimensional peacekeeping force comprised of variants of Lois Lane and some Jimmy Olsens dedicated to protecting each dimension, managed to disarm him and they were in the process of taking him but a portal to a previously unknown universe, Earth-12, opened due to the actions of that universe's Brain and Monsieur Mallah dealing with an incursion by Task Force X.
Mr. Mxyzptlk escaped to Earth-12. He knocked on Clark Kent's apartment door and introduced himself then lied he was an interdimensional peacekeeper in need of his help. Kent, preoccupied with going out on a date with Lois Lane, declined and shut the door. Mxyzptlk teleported inside and produced identification and a badge claiming he was charged with the safety of the Multiverse and requested Kent to suit up. Kent attempted to deny he was Superman but Mxyzptlk snapped his fingers. Kent was in his Superman suit and Mxyzptlk cycled through the Supermen of Earth-12, Earth-50, Earth-508, and another. Back to normal, Superman realized he was briefly a crab. Mxyzptlk explained there were infinite universe out there and thus, infinite Supermen. He claimed he came this universe specifically because its Lois Lane was kidnapped by a ruthless gang of interdimensional criminals.
Superman fell for the story. Mxyzptlk explained the criminals had measures that stopped him from portaling into their hideout so Superman would have to break through their security. Superman agreed to do whatever it took to save her. Mxyzptlk opened a portal to the supposed kidnappers' lair, which in fact was the Earth-Prime Space and Superhero Museum. Superman ripped the door off its frame but was attacked by a giant droid. Several items were on display like a Mother Box, Nth Metal mace, Book of the Black, T-Sphere, Green Lantern Battery, Helmet of Fate, Cosmic Rod, Flight Ring, and Lasso of Truth. Mxyzptlk wanted to ransack the place to Superman's dismay. Superman wanted to know where Lane was. Mxyzptlk keyed on a recorder. Superman realized he was deceived and was used to break through the portal proof vault. He refused to help him smash a case. Mxyzptlk grabbed the Cosmic Rod and smashed it himself then took the recorder but Superman blocked his way out of the vault.
Superman demanded he return what he stole then surrender to whatever authorities deal with him then the perfect, normal date would commence. Mxyzptlk was amused and told him he was never going to be normal because he saw countless Supermen and it was always their fate to be different, weird, and alone. Mxyzptlk suddenly felt weak and hinted he lost something dear to him but he was strong enough for one last trick. He opened a portal to Earth-14. Mxyzptlk stated all they had to do now was wait for "them" to show up. The League of Lois Lanes arrived. Mxyzptlk flew away. While the League was preoccupied with neutralizing Superman, Mxyzptlk hijacked their ship. Mxyzptlk's joy was short lived as Lois Lane held a gun to him and ordered him to turn the ship around. Mxyzptlk revealed he had Earth-Prime Lois Lane's recorder and was going to use it to find the League's headquarters. Lane admitted she wanted to find out what the League was hiding from her about Superman.
Mxyzptlk was amused she immediately suspected the League was lying to her and mused Earth-Prime Lois would have loved her since she didn't trust them either. He revealed she kept a secret back up master key. He used it and a portal was opened. Lois Lane thought the League headquarters was beautiful but Mxyzptlk found it pretentious. He decided it would be more fun to not tell her about Superman and watch her figure it out. She got what she came for, File X, while Mxyzptlk searched for his hat. It morphed into a crown of sorts. A third eye appeared on his forehead and his full powers were restored. He opened multiple portals. The League, Superman, and Jimmy Olsen arrived to his annoyance. The League traded fire with Mxyzptlk's holograms. Superman and Lois Lane reunited and came up with a plan. Superman pretended to lose to Mxyzptlk. Lane reached into the right portal and her hand emerged from the portal behind Mxyzptlk. She snatched his hat. Olsen dropped out of another portal and tackled him. The portals and clones vanished.
The hat was locked up again and Mxyzptlk was handcuffed. Superman, Lane, and Olsen grabbed a gauntlet and quickly returned to their universe before the League noticed. With the computer too fried to find Earth-12's coordinates the Lois in charge decided to just put Mxyzptlk in confinement and call it a day. Lois Lane, back in her apartment, opened File X and learned it was a file on all of the evil Supermen of the Multiverse. Mxyzptlk appeared and asked if she figured it out yet. She was naturally surprised to see him again. He teased jail didn't take and her drama was too fun to miss. Lane asked if the file was some kind of a trick. He claimed it was the truth and told her like how not every Lois wins a Pulitzer Prize, not every Superman is good. She found a piece of Kryptonite inside the file's sphere. Mxyzptlk admitted things just got interesting. She asked what it was. He didn't tell her and teased it was much more fun to watch her figure it out and teleported away.
Season Three
Mr. Mxyzptlk teleported the Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen he previously encountered along with their Supergirl to another dimension. They found themselves out of their formal wear and now clad in beach clothes. A disembodied voice declared the contest had begun. Mxyzptlk explained he was getting divorced from his wife Gsptlsnz but their people settled things with a game instead of a court room and lawyers. They were his team and both teams would participate in a series of challenges, each challenge cleared gets them a key and entry to the next ring, and whoever's team collected the most keys and got to the center ring fastest determined who got the house, speedboat, galaxy, and what not. Supergirl asked what happened if they refused to be pawns. Mxyzptlk revealed the losers would never see their precious universe again. He was confident he would win since he had Superman on his team. Kent revealed he lost his powers. Gsptlsnz laughed at Mxyzptlk's expense and introduced her team: General Lois Lane, Good Lex Luthor, Scion Supergirl, and Flamebird Jimmy. Mxyzptlk wanted the playing field leveled but Gsptlsnz taunted him "buyer beware." He got his rule approved: no flying.
Mxyzptlk quickly explained the first game was simply crossing the bridge to the key the fastest. He was annoyed to see it end in a tie and reminded them they're supposed to win. The next game split the players by gender. Mxyzptlk explained the "boy challenge" was to find all the portal pieces, put them together to make a portal, and leave. Olsen was surprised that was it. Mxyzptlk yelled it was and teleported away. He was annoyed to see the opposing players working together. He booed and threw popcorn at Olsen then declared it was boring, revealing the girls were already done. He released Hell Hippos to heighten the stakes. Team Glitzy won the second game. Mxyzptlk wondered if they even wanted a universe. Olsen and Lane realized both imps prevented the beasts from hurting them. The teams were teleported to a cavern with crystals. Mxyzptlk quickly explained it was a maze and they would win by choosing the one true path but warned them not to let the trail go cold. Supergirl realized the game was a trick and there was no one true path, the future was theirs to shape.
Mxyzptlk wasn't interested in Supergirl explaining the solution to the others and took the key. Kent asked about the other team. Mxyzptlk brought them in with a column of water, calling them a bunch of drips then a total wash. He had more insults but Gsptlsnz added the key to hers and inserted them into the Cosmic Anvil. She announced there was one more game left. Mxyzptlk snapped his fingers and teammates were paired off into big hamster balls then a course appeared. Gsptlsnz wanted to keep them but Mxyzptlk warned her she always got attached, they died, and she got sad. She claimed her empathy made her likable. Before the game started, Lane objected because things weren't adding up. Good Luthor agreed and pointed out it didn't seem to matter who won the keys. Kent added it only seemed to matter if they were won. Lane wondered why they both won the first game. Good Luthor noticed the keys went to the same place no matter who won them. Lane asked who was that on the anvil. Mxyzptlk tried to downplay things but Supergirl broke all the balls.
Mxyzptlk and Gsptlsnz explained the Cosmic Anvil could reshape the universe but the keys unlocked its power and the keys could only be gained by mortals due to a curse that barred immortals. They offered the winners the change to reshape their universe. Kent objected and tried to warn them not to trust Mxyzptlk then asked what happened to the losers. Mxyzptlk revealed they would get turned into a pet for Gsptlsnz, maybe a ficus. They caught him calling Gsptlsnz his "beloved wife." Mxyzptlk confessed this was a date, not a divorce, with some good old fashioned role play to spice things up. They revealed Kent's secret identity to get Good Luthor to get him to refuse to play, too. Mxyzptlk became irate. Kent called his bluff and implored him to kill them. He didn't. Time ran out. The disembodied voice declared the hour had come and since the contest had no victor, his seal remained unbroken. He bid farewell to the players then told Mxyzptlk to burn in hell. Mxyzptlk threw a fit and pounded the ground like a bratty child. Gsptlsnz was turned off and teleported away. He claimed it was just role play. Lane kicked him and still wanted to know who that was on the Cosmic Anvil. Mxyzptlk cryptically replied he was a "sore loser" and teleported them back to their universe.
