Alex "Lex" Luthor is Dr. Ivo's former assistant at AmazoTech. He was knocked out by Lois Lane during an event at AmazoTech. During a chance encounter with Jimmy Olsen at S.T.A.R. Labs, Luthor regained his confidence. Luthor later assisted Task Force X in the lead up to the Brainiac incident but ran away during the actual battle after none of his creations worked. He then became the CEO of his own start up, Lexcorp. He partnered with former Task Force X agent Slade Wilson.

Season Three

Lex Luthor facilitated a server breach at the Pentagon and stole files detailing the decommissioned Project Caliban, a secret biotech research program that ran parallel to Project Cadmus and Task Force X. A drone was dispatched to Caliban's base. On Halloween night, Wilson asked how the operation went. Luthor stopped watching the drone's feed and reported the drone didn't make it and the footage was compromised and incomplete but he was enough. Wilson asked if he should fetch the drone. Luthor told him to forget about Caliban and called it a failure. Wilson was surprised Luthor wanted to go see Hank Henshaw since he needed machines just to breath. Luthor thought he would be perfect for their plan.

At the Superfest convention, Luthor was an exhibitor. He stopped at Jimmy Olsen's booth and browsed one of his Superman's Pal comic books. Luthor disliked the muscular designs and asked who drew it. He mused no one ever appreciated a slender frame. Olsen asked why he was at the convention. Luthor told him he was an entrepreneur on a mission and always on the look out for innovative opportunities. He hinted he found an exceptional one then left his business card. He invited Olsen to stop by at his presentation. Lois Lane goaded Winslow Schott into revealing he was not so reformed as he claimed to be. Schott activated a giant mech suit. Henshaw knocked it outside onto its back. Luthor presented Henshaw as a homegrown American hero, created with his human ingenuity and Henshaw's iron will, after being shot down in last year's alien invasion. Henshaw repeatedly punched the mech suit into submission well after it was defeated. Luthor stated they no longer needed to rely on the mercy of violent aliens to keep them safe. Henshaw struck the mech suit one last time. Luthor stated they had power then asked Lane if she wanted a blurb for the Daily Planet. She asked Henshaw what this was all about. He stated it was about taking back humanity's future.

Back at Lexcorp, Luthor and Henshaw gloated things went even better than they planned thanks to the unexpected incident caused by Winslow Schott gave them the opportunity to show off the latter's skills. Luthor believed it was another step closer to winning the hearts and minds of Metropolis. Henshaw added it was one step closer to saving the world from Superman. Intergang robbed Lexcorp but Hank Henshaw engaged them outside the building and it turned into a PR disaster. Eventually, Superman asked Silver Banshee to hand over the stolen technology and her helmet and she complied. He pointed out how no one had to get hurt. Henshaw disagreed and readied a palm blast. The bystanders gasped. Henshaw was suddenly trapped in a laser construct. Slade Wilson ordered him to stand down and Luthor wanted to have a word with him.

Luthor turned off a news flash about the incident and wasn't pleased everyone was afraid of Henshaw. He downplayed it, still calling himself a hero. Luthor emphasized heroes show restraint and with the public against him, they would never be able to replace Superman. Henshaw didn't care what the masses thought since they had the power so he could do what he wanted. He took a step forward but Wilson drew his sword and told him that was close enough. He knocked Wilson away. Wilson donned his armor but was slammed around then thrown into the ceiling. Henshaw was about to punch him but Luthor activated a failsafe that neutralized Henshaw. Luthor stated he had the power and he could take Henshaw's away at anytime.

On November 15th, Henshaw went to go see Luthor but was reminded he agreed to stay in his quarters until further notice. Wilson drew his sword. Henshaw apologized for his actions and told Luthor he was right to remind him of who's in charge. He promised to never forget. Luthor added an "again." Wilson was incensed Luthor bought it. Luthor was confident a firm hand never failed with types like Henshaw. Wilson pointed out he was one of those types and Henshaw tried to kill him. Luthor called it just a blip. Henshaw lingered and scanned the failsafe trigger. He later returned and told Luthor he forgot about the food chain and where Luthor fell in it. Luthor went for the trigger but Henshaw made it implode. He tried to run but Henshaw took control of two Lex drones who grabbed him. Wilson rubbed it in. Luthor promised he could have more autonomy. Henshaw exclaimed he wanted his life back and Luthor turned him into a freak. Luthor tried to spin it and blamed his condition on the aliens while taking credit for saving his life. Luthor then offered to help him. Henshaw declared there was no "we" and flicked him through a glass door while telling him to remember the food chain.

Wilson and Luthor took the elevator to the lobby. Wilson continued to rub it in about "the blip." Luthor assumed that made them even but Wilson teased they were getting there. Lois Lane suddenly drove Pa Kent's truck into the lobby, called out to Luthor to his horror, then ran out and decked him. Wilson confirmed they were now even. She grabbed Luthor by the collar and ordered him to shut Hank Henshaw down. He refused. She wondered what was wrong with him. Luthor claimed she got to do whatever she wanted and twice now assaulted him because Superman is always protecting her. He asked who protected the rest of them then said they have to live in fear of their alien boyfriend. The building felt a rumble from the battle between Superman and Cyborg Superman. She asked him if he felt safer then asked him what he thought would happen once Henshaw was done with Superman, more specifically who he would go after next. Luthor thought about it and relented.

They went up to his office. He managed to shut down the drones and Henshaw's connection to them but he still had three barriers to clear. Henshaw flew to them and called Luthor a weasel. Luthor ran from his desk and placed Lane in front of him. Lane tried to reason with Henshaw but he refused. From a construction site, Superboy chucked pipes at Henshaw.

Hypertimeline

In a version of the future, Metropolis was left in ruins and dominated by Lex Drones. Superboy made his way into Lexcorp. Jimmy Olsen and John Henry Irons exchanged fire with several drones while Lex Luthor hurried Superboy in. Irons placed an S shield over Superboy's shield. Drones blasted their way in. Luthor placed a Time Travel Watch on Superboy's wrist and told him the only way he could help them was the make sure all this never happened. The device activated and Superboy vanished just as Luthor was the last to be vaporized by the drones.

After Hank Henshaw was stopped by Superman in the present, the future Superboy came from was changed. With no prolonged threat posed by Cyborg Superman, Luthor came into power and assumed the title of High Commander. He commanded an army of Supermen. Slade Wilson captured Superboy and brought him to Lexcorp. Luthor gave his regards to Superboy's mother then shared he heard Superboy was trying to travel back to the past and wondered where he even got that idea from.
