Five days before Christmas, Dr. Killgrave and his team examined Amazo in Mt. Simonson Base. Eventually, its screams set Killgrave off and he yelled for someone to turn down its vocal processor. Someone did. He asked if that was so hard. A scientist pointed out his theory that the Kryptonian technology would be rendered powerless under the Project Cadmus Red Sun Omega Field was correct. Killgrave quipped he didn't get three PhDs for fun. He lamented the fact that Dr. Ivo went nuts because they had no idea how he built Amazo's artificial intelligence or why its absorption mechanics worked differently than the prototype Parasite suits. A scientist added Task Force X was dragging its feet in handing over information. Killgrave expressed contempt for them and thanked God that Checkmate pulled in Team Seven rather than letting "jarheads" prod delicate alien technology. While Killgrave and his team were distracted by the explosion set off by Agent Slade Wilson, Lois Lane managed to lock them out of the lab. He pounded on the door and ordered it to be opened.
Dr. Killgrave pinpointed Amazo's location to the the Metropolis Bay Bridge. Over comms, Agent DuBois asked him if he was ready to redeem his department. Killgrave pointed out he wouldn't be here without his technology. He traced Amazo's heat signature to the middle of the bridge in the eastbound lane. Team Seven conducted a search of every vehicle on the bridge in search of Amazo. Killgrave was later able to get an exact location in a van. DuBois shot the van but no one was inside. Team Seven lost sight of Amazo and Superman. Killgrave monitored Amazo when DuBois arrived at Area 52.
