Abel is destined to create a technology in the 31st century that will later make Imperiex a virtually undisputed warrior. In the 41st century, the Resistance created a clone of Superman and a self-regenerating hybrid to destroy Imperiex. When Superman X appeared to fail his mission, Terra Man was sent to the 31st century to kill Abel and effectively eliminate Imperiex. The Legion of Superheroes intervened at a ranch where he lived with a robot caretaker and refused to kill Abel. They teamed up with Imperiex to save the seven year old and relocate him. At a young age, he created action figures play with out of lonliness.
