Brin Londo was born on Zuun, the most unihabitable planet. He later relocated with his father to Rawl and helped him conduct illegal bioengineering research. Londo later volunteered and was subjected to painful experimentation all so his father could create the ultimate warrior. Londo was transformed into a humanoid wolf.

In his rage, Londo escaped into wilderness and rejected any attempts to recapture him. Dr. Londo then manipulated the Legion of Superheroes into catching him. Saturn Girl discovered the truth and helped Londo revert from his super agitated state to normal. To everyone's surprise, he was still part wolf in appearance. Londo's mutated DNA was irreversible. After wrecking Dr. Londo's facility, Londo left with the Legion.

He joined them as codename Timber Wolf. Beneath his rough exterior, Timber Wolf became one of the most loyal and caring members of the Legion. In battle, he often protects Phantom Girl, led a dangerous mission to Zuun to cure Brainiac 5, and spied on Lightning Lad and the Light Speed Vanguard. However, he continued to fear losing control of his beastily nature.

Years later, Dr. Londo implanted his amygdala with nanites and framed him for murder all to manipulate him back to his side. Facing a life sentence on Takron-Galtos, Timber Wolf escaped thanks to Chameleon Boy and Phantom Girl and discovered his father was alive and developed cloning technology. After the nanites were purged from his body, he discovered he could now control his transformations and use it as an advantage in battle.
