Imra Ardeen became the most talented and desciplined telepath born on Titan. Ardeen planned to apply for the Science Police. During her flight, she met Rokk Krinn and Garth Ranzz who impersonated rich people to impress her. Ardeen quickly found out the truth. She then detected danger and the trio saved R.J. Brande's life. Ardeen was skeptical that the threat was over and continued to investigate. Her intuition was correct and they saved Brande again. Impressed with their valor, Brande helped the three form the Legion of Superheroes.

Instead of joining the Science Police, Ardeen took the codename Saturn Girl. Despite Saturn Girl's empathy with teammates, they often concluded she was just reading their minds when she wasn't. Years later, she was forced to take an extended healing trance after taking the full brunt of a mind blast from Esper. Months later, she fully recovered and returned to active duty. In the final battle against Brainiac, she used her power to project Superman and Superman X's minds into Brainiac 5 and help him regain control. She later merged their consciousness' into one. Often caught between the clashing co-founders, Saturn Girl has displayed some affection for Lightning Lad.
