Reese is a librarian at the Gotham Library and co-worker of Barbara Gordon. He was often left perplexed why she was single and not dating anyone. Learning she liked 'darker men,' Reese recommended his cousin - a defense attorney but she declined. Gordon admitted she was sort of involved with someone. Reese inquired what she was doing. She was working on a project for the Gotham City Police Department who were setting up cameras around the city. She cycled through different feeds and happened to catch sight of Paris Franz, the subject of Batman's current case. Reese commented he looked like her type. The next day, Reese asked to clarify the 'yoga teacher,' she was sort of seeing. After she admitted he was always controlling and there was no sex, Reese advised her to find another class but Gordon said there was no other class. She lost her composure and went into a tirade about how she was the best damn student he ever had and there was going to be a problem if he was going to make emotion-based decisions. Reese mused the gay scene wasn't as complicated.
A few nights later, Gordon told him she and her teacher had sex and it aws fantastic. But he wasn't talking to her. Reese admitted he'd been to that dance before and told her to talk to him since some men needed time to adjust to a commitment.
