Barbara Gordon finished a night jog through a park and returned to her apartment but got a call from her father Commissioner Gordon with news their father-daughter night was cancelled. Commissioner Gordon visited his daughter at her apartment later that night. He cut out an article from the Gotham Examinder's Daily Bulletin Edition for March 8. He worried about the Joker. Barbara asked him to leave work at the office for once. She answered the door and was shot point blank by the Joker. The Joker's men beat up Gordon and took him while Joker took nude photos of her. Colleen Miles, Barbara's work out partner, went to the apartment and found her.
Some time after recovering, Barbara Gordon, now confined to a wheelchair, returned to her apartment from a lacrosse game. She talked to her father on the phone about it briefly then cited she had other plans and couldn't get together with him. She unveiled a secret room behind a full body mirror and entered. The computers and technology inside turned on. Gordon went to work as Oracle.
