Shyir Rev is a native of Colony 12 in Frontier Space and was an engineer before he was recruited to join the Green Lantern Corps. He married the chief geologist, Biara, and they had a daughter they named Amala. While on patrol, Rev came upon a crashed ship but it was another ambush set up by Razer and Zilius Zox. He was no match against them and faced certain death when the Interceptor arrived. Rev was rescued by Hal Jordan and Kilowog.
They regrouped on Colony 12 only to face the Red Lantern Corps again. Rev was unable to disarm the Liberator and delayed it by using his ring to hold off the laser from igniting a plutonium cache. The Red Lantern Corps, Jordan, the Interceptor, and Kilowog with the colonists were able to escape before the planet blew up. Rev did not survive. The Colony 12 elders decided to name their new home planet after Shyir Rev, in his honor.
